Have you noticed that when you look at someone you don’t know, and you smile, they don’t always greet you the same way? I’m a very observant person. I watch how people act in the world around me and I notice so many people are so into their own bubble that they forget to smile.
Our world is made up of of tons of different kinds of people, (I think that’s what makes us so interesting), and smiling is the best way to get to know each and every one of them.
But haven’t you noticed when you’re walking down the street, and you see a fellow human being, so you smile, right? (At least that’s my first impulse… to smile at a stranger), but they don’t smile back. You’re like, “What’s wrong with you?” “Why aren’t you smiling back at me?”
Then I realize, “Maybe they’re having an off day. Maybe they’re not happy.” We don’t really know what’s going on in the minds of people, sometimes. Some people just aren’t that friendly. I’m learning to accept that and not let it bother me so much.
Even when you’re having an off day, does that mean you shouldn’t smile at someone? We all have our problems, complaints, and issues, but at the end of the day, smiling is the best option. Smiling lets people know that you are welcoming someone into your presence. It’s saying, “Hello” but not verbally saying it. I think that people should do it more. People should just let go of their pride (or whatever feelings they have) and smile more!
What’s with the front? Why are you pretending to be something you’re not. You’re putting up a wall, a façade? Just let your guard down and smile for Pete’s sake!
Hey, maybe I’ve just inspired you to smile the next time you see a stranger crossing your path. You never know, you might just be able to make someones day with that beautiful smile of yours.
